My little bear took his first steps today. I set him on the kitchen floor, after breakfast, and proceeded to clear the table. Rose was playing in the other room on George’s new toy (thanks for the b-day present Granny!). Rose called “come play with me George” and reached out her hands to him. And he took one little step forward (I caught the movement out of the corner of my eye). Rose said “Mommy! George took a step!”. I turned and looked at him, and he took another step towards his big sis. Then plunked down and crawled over. I wish I could have got a pic, but the camera was on the other side of the room. Oh well!
My baby boy is becoming a toddler!!!
It was a little bittersweet that Kurt couldn’t see it. We knew George wouldn’t likely wait until Daddy comes home in November
I should be sleeping right now. Its early, but I’m tired, so I should go to bed. But, I don’t feel like it. I have too much to do around the house, and I don’t want to do any of it. My house is a mess.
George is getting into everything now
He’s got 2 favorite’s that drive me batty: 1) he climbs up on the bathroom stool (2 steps) and turns on the water in the sink and plays with it 2) he climbs on the oven using the bottom drawer handle as a step, from there he can reach the burners, unless the oven opens first and sends him flying.
These things are driving me nuts. I can’t get much done since he’s constantly moving between these two things and I spend all my time getting him down and/or trying to block him. Its great that he’s so adventurous, but he’s cruising for trouble. The floor in the bathroom and the kitchen is tile (ouch!). I wish he’d be more careful since he can’t even walk yet or stand on his own very steadily. He’s crazy!
I’ve barely been on the computer since its so nice outside. Rose wants to be outside 24/7 and I love that – I love the sun and running around in the yard and playing in the pool or sprinkler. Luckily we’ve only had a few bad days lately, but they still didn’t stop us! The only thing that would make it better would be to be at a beach with a turqouise (sp?) ocean in from of me…mmmm……
I was reading a magazine a few days ago, and came across a quote that made me laugh out loud. Here it is: “For young children, the distinction between what they’ve done, what they’ve imagined and what they might like to be happening is very fuzzy.” (Joanne Keilty, teacher) I have never heard something that so acurately described Rose.
Her thoughts are always in amongst princesses, ballerinas, animals (expecially horses). No matter what she is doing or saying, reality often takes sudden left turns into her vivid, and extremely detail oriented imagination. I often think she is talking about something real, only to figure out that she is telling me an elaborate story she has dreamt up. I love her creativity, I hope she keeps it forever. I especially treasure her capacity for unbounded joy.
It always makes me smile when she tells people (in complete seriousness) that she is going to be a princess ballerina veterinarian when she’s bigger. ~:o)
I know George is big – he’s 90th percentile for everything for his age group (when charted by the public health nurse and the doctor). He was 21.11 lbs at 7 months. I guess I never really saw it that much. But, it has hit me. We just bought George new diapers in size 4. Thats the size Rose was wearing when she potty trained at 2 years old! Wow, craziness!
