My little bear is sick for the first time.  During naps and at night he’s waking up and coughing.  During awake time he’s coughing.  His throat sounds sooo sore.  Thankfully he’s not too stuffed up – he’s got a bit of a runny nose, but nothing that interferes with breathing (at least not yet *fingers crossed*).   I think he’s got a headache too, since he’s been more fussy than usual since Wednesday.  I’ve given him baby Tylenol, but it doesn’t seem to be helping at all.  I don’t have anything else to give him – all the stuff in our Medicine cabinet is for adults or kids over 2 years.  If he’s still sick tommorrow, I’m going to see what I can find at the pharmacy.

My family is passing this thing around – I just got over it a few days ago, Rose got just a little bit of it on Monday, and Kurt’s got it now too.  I hope it’ll end with Kurt and not cycle back again!

Today we went for a walk up town – not a small trip at Rose’s pace.  It took us 45 min to reach the main street (takes me about 10-15).  We went and had ice cream then headed home.

But, what to our wonderous eyes should appear?  Two people on horseback, coming down the main street from the highway.  They headed off down a residental street and we followed (since it’s the way we go home).   They went faster than us (obviously :P ) but Rose still tried to catch up to go see them.  We never caught up, which made Rose upset.  However, luckily, I could say:  Don’t worry about it Rose, there’s horses at Nama and Papa’s (my cousins) house.  We’ll see them soon :)

Ex 3 – Me: Don’t walk on the snowbanks when they are melting.

Rose: Why? I’ll go down, down, down and be dead?

Me: No! Your feet will get wet.

Ex 4 – Me: Be careful of bees.

Rose: Why? They sting me and I’ll be dead?

Me: No! They’ll sting and it will hurt for while.

George has mastered rolling over with ease.  He can maneouver all around the floor by rolling and twisting around.  He’s really happy with this new ability….except that he still hates being on his stomach.  During the day he just fusses a bit, then works to roll over again, or plays with toys that are in reach.  At night, he’s too tired to get back on his belly once he flips over.  So, he gets very upset.   Last night he woke up at 3am royally pissed off.  I waited a few minutes to see if he was going to calm down, but he didn’t, so I went to see what was wrong.  He had rolled over onto his stomach and wanted desperately to be on his back, but I’m assuming he was too uncoordinated while sleepy to get himself fixed.  So I put him on his back and he went back to sleep.  But then a 1/2 hour later, he did it again!  This time he was even more mad.  I couldn’t help but laugh at my poor little bear.  He was totally awake after the second episode so I had to nurse him back to sleep.  He’s going to have to either learn to like sleeping on his stomach or learn to roll to his back easier!

We never had this problem with Rose.  She learned to roll to her stomach by about 4 months and liked sleeping that way.  Everytime I fixed her (like a dutiful parent afraid of SIDS), she would roll back to her stomach soon after.

Here are some recent exchanges between Rose and I:

Ex 1 – Me: Don’t jump on the stairs

Rose: Why? Because I’ll break my head open and be dead?

Me: No! Because you’ll bang your knees or bump your head.

Ex 2- Me: Don’t step in that puddle

Rose: Why? Because I’ll drown?

Me: No! Because you’ll get wet!

I could go on and on like this.  I don’t know where this has come from, since I don’t let her watch violence at all on TV.  I guess its just a stage/her age, but I hope it ends soon!

Mabels Labels are really great!  Thought I would share this cool find – they really are durable.

(thanks for the phone conv steph!)

a few minutes ago george started getting fussy in the exersaucer, on my way over to him he said MAMAMA (regarless that it was only random sounds for him, i choose to believe he was calling me) and then the smell hit me … george just had the BIGGEST poop!  it required stripping off and washing everything he had on, washing the change pad, washing his whole back and entire legs, and at least 10 wipes.  what a little stinker!

Facebook is a great way to catch up with old friends!

We went to West Ed to the waterpark this week and it was a lot of fun.  Rose loved all the wading pools and the little waterslides.  At the end of the day, she went down a really big waterslide (slide A) all by herself!  I couldn’t believe it.  I was sitting at the edge of the hot tub holding George while he slept when Kurt and Rose told me about it.  They went to the top of the slide to go down together, when Rose decided she wanted to go by herself.  She wouldn’t even let Kurt go first so he could catch her at the end.  She went first! – all be herself!  My little missypie is growing up so fast.
